Brachetto d’Acqui DOCG (Piedmont region of Italy).

Winemaking

A classic Banfi Piemonte wine from 100% Brachetto d’Acqui, an aromatic, ancient, and complex grape typical of the area. Sweet and sparkling with a lively and persistent perlage from the Charmat method.

A well-made wine striking the elegant balance of sweetness and acidity. Cold maceration of the grapes, followed by a soft pressing for gentle extraction gives the wine its characteristic color and complexity. Secondary fermentation in stainless steel is where the wine achieves its sweetness and sparkling character.

Little known fact: Brachetto d’Acqui dates back to the times of Cleopatra. Legend has it that both Julius Caesar and Marc Antony presented Cleopatra with several wine skins filled with this luscious elixir, knowing it would be love at first sip.
