Growing Conditions

A captivating Supertuscan that combines the 4 selected red vines
in the history of Banfi as the best for our Montalcino vineyards.

Soil: of various types, from sandy clayey sediments with pebbles abundant and well-draining clay soils with a calcareous nature which tend to retain moisture.

Training system: spurred cordon - Banfi alberello

Planting density: 4200 cp/ha.

Yield per hectare: 70 q/ha.

Winemaking

Fermentation: at a controlled temperature (25-30°) in vats combined in steel and French oak Horizon.

Each variety is vinified separately and aged 6-8 months to enhance its unique characteristics. The cuvée is then made and aged an additional 6-8 months. It is unfiltered to preserve its unique character. At least 6 months of bottle rest follows.

Aging

Brief passage in wood – Sangiovese in barrels 60 and 90 hl French oak, the other varieties in barrique French oak. of 350 l.

Nose

A wine with an excellent potential. On the nose the scent is characterized by hints of red fruits with intense cherry tones, accompanied by spicy notes of licorice and pepper.

Palate

Broad structure, with sweet and powerful tannins, very balanced with a persistent finish.

Appearance

An intense ruby color.

Long aging wine. A perfect match for rustic bean soups, grilled meats, and aged cheeses.
